Another day another iPhone 5 release date rumour. It was only the other day that O2 in the UK were behind a rumoured 21st October release date. Today it's the turn of France Telecom whose CEO has been saying that the European launch of the device will take place on 15th October, not the 21st. He told French reporters that "If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October". To be fair all the recent release date rumours seem to be swirling around an October timeframe, but that timeframe is swaying between 7th and 21st October depending upon which rumour you subscribe to.

Windows Phone was billed as the 'third ecosystem' after Android and iOS, but ever since it launched there have been persistent queries concerning how well it was actually selling. To be honest even now, almost a year after it first launched it's still not entirely clear just how many units have been sold. What is clear though is that it hasn't been selling as well as was first hoped.
How do we know this for sure? Steve Ballmer said so. In a meeting with financial analysts on Wednesday Ballmer told them "We haven't sold quite as many as I would have liked in the first year". Don't worry though because Microsoft have a plan up their sleeves so cunning that it could have been uttered by Baldrick ... Nokia! Essentially Microsoft are pinning their hopes on Nokia's entry to the Windows Phone sphere. In Ballmer's own words "With Nokia we have a dedicated hardware partner that is all-in on Windows Phone".
For their part Nokia is committed to Windows Phone, they have to be as Stephen Elop has pretty much bet the future of the company on it.
