If the Lumia 800 stole the show today as Nokia's firstborn Windows Phone device then the Lumia 710 is undoutedly its baby brother. The Lumia 710 is in fact not all that inferior to the 800. It comes with the same 1.4 GHz processor the 800 has, and also features a 3.7 inch ClearBlack display. The camera has been toned down a little, from the 800's 8 MP effort to a 5 MP affair in the 710. Even so the camera does support 720p video recording at least. There's 8 GB of inbuilt memory, half that of the Lumia 800 and 512 MB of RAM.
The Lumia 710 is going to launch first in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan. Those are the countries that will see the Lumia 800's second wave of sales after the initial European markets have been hit. The Lumia 710 will be going on sale for 270 euros.

Nokia finally took the wraps off its first Windows Phone device today at Nokia World. I say 'take the wraps off', but of course the device now known as the Lumia 800 had already leaked on the internet. Nevertheless it is now official.
The handset features an 8 MP camera with the Nokia stalwart of Carl Zeiss optics. There's a 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display to look at the pictures you take with that camera and a 1.4 Ghz chip powering the show. The handset comes with 16 GB of internal memory, but you get another 25 GB of SkyDrive space.
The Lumia 800 is available forpre-order for 420 euros in select countries. The actual release will be around November in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. After that it's going on a (short) world tour as it hits Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan. Those latter countries should come into play 'before the end of the year'. Further markets will be opened up in early 2012.
