Video: Bing Audio Search    [ 09-06-2011 20:28 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Channel 9     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

We posted up a review of the forthcoming Mango update for Windows Phone earlier and for those interested in the Bing audio search feature from Bing Search here is a video that goes into a little more depth about this feature. For those who don't know the audio search is essentially Microsoft's version of Shazam i.e. you can sample a track currently playing and find information on it such as the artist, the album, etc.

Remember to check out our review of the Mango update!

Video: 3GS Not Getting All iOS 5 Features    [ 09-06-2011 18:11 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: 9to5 Mac     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

With any major update to iOS the inevitable fear creeps into owners of older versions of the iPhone that they will miss out on some of the cool new toys. Well iOS 5 is not far off so what about iPhone 3GS owners? Well sadly yes they will not be able to use all the new features in iOS 5. That's the downside ... the up side is that those omissions are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

For example, Twitter integration and the Notification Center are both present for 3GS owners. In fact the only things that seem to be missing are the photo editing features and Safari's tabbed browsing. Ok so maybe they would be nice to have, but probably not a deal breaker for 3GS owners.

Take a peek at the video below to see iOS 5 in action on the 3GS:

Stephen Elop: 'Apple Created Android'    [ 09-06-2011 17:46 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: via Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has been making some comments about Apple and Android ... some controversial comments ... Elop was speaking at the Open Mobile Summit and in  speech justifying explaining why Nokia decided to ditch MeeGo and shack up with Microsoft to try and make Windows Phone the third big mobile platform Elop dropped the following bombshell:

Apple created Android, or at least created the conditions necessary for Android to come into being

Without getting into the merits of the words themselves it's more interesting to ask why Elop would make such a statement. Well to be slightly cynical and to join others who have suggested similar it is likely a diversionary tactic designed to ramp up animosity between Google and Apple. Whatever the reason thecomment is out there now so expect to see a snarky response from Google at some point ...
