Stephen Elop has been speaking again (that's twice this week for those keeping count) and again he's provided a handy little soundbite for the press. This time around he was addressing those persistent rumours that Nokia's phone division was up for sale, with a deal possibly being struck with new cosey cuddles partner Microsoft as reported by Eldar or perhaps even with Samsung.
Elop's message was straight to the point:
"Nokia is not for sale."
Well that's that then ... or is it? Look at the choice of words Elop used: 'Nokia is not for sale'. The rumours suggesting a sale was possible centred on Nokia selling off its phone division, not the company as a whole. Elop's choice of words here provides him with some room for manoeuvre should a deal in fact emerge.

Once more the ridiculous farce that masquerades as current music licensing laws has setup its camp in the 'you're not going to be enjoying some cool new tech' area of 'No Fun Land'. Basically iTunes Match, Apple's new cloud based msuic service, will not be launching in the UK until 2012. Why the delay? Well let's turn to the fine folks over at the Performing Rights Society who say:
The licensing team at the PRS have started talks with Apple, but are a long way off from any deals being signed ... It is very much the early stages of the negotiations and is similar to the launch of iTunes - which began in the US and took a while to roll out to other countries
I love that last line because it makes it sound like there is some other reason for these services launching in other countries behind the U.S. when in fact it is down to bodies like the PRS trying to squeeze every last penny they can out the proceedings.
iCloud will be launching with iTunes Match alongside iOS 5 in the U.S. in the autumn.
