Admittedly I am not much of a fan of 3D, I tend to see it as more hype than substance and yes I have tried out the technology and yes I was impressed at points, but frankly it's a novelty at best for the time being. With that in mind I did find myself interested in the news that one research team is trying to bring a 3D experience, the sort that doesn't need glasses, to the iPad 2.
The snappily titled Engineering Human-Computer Interaction team have come come up with a head tracking system for the iPad 2 that gives some 3D sensations. Is it useful? Well that's a question open to debate although you can probably guess what my answer would be, but nevertheless it is still exciting to see people modifying technology to do things it wasn't originally intended for.

Those enamoured by the BlackBerry are no doubt getting excited over the upcoming BlackBerry World conference to be held in less than a month's time. Expected at the conference is the unveiling of BlackBerry OS 6.1 and to whet their appetites for that some screenshots of BlackBerry messenger 6 have leaked out today.
You might notice the colour changes and icons here, perhaps giving a preview of the more general look and feel of the new OS version as a whole. There are apparently some BlackBerry Messenger 6 versions floating around the web at the moment, but with BlackBerry World really just a hop skip and a jump away you might be safer waiting.

Microsoft hasn't exactly been quick off the mark when it comes to getting updates out to its Windows Phone 7 platform and of course multi-tasking is one of the big ones many customers want to see. Enter the devs! In this day and age you can almost guarantee that if a big multi-national won't/can't do something software related then a dev working from home can and will.
Dev Jaxbot has already shown off instant app resuming on Windows Phone 7 and for his next trick he's looking at true multi-tasking no less! Now before you get too excited by this let's throw in the word 'demonstration', for that is what his hack is at the moment and let's also throw in the word 'patience', for that is what Microsoft are asking of those tempted to go down the hacking route. You can check out the demo below and maybe head on over and give Jaxbot some feedback:
