Video: Coca Cola Tron Game    [ 24-11-2010 18:19 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: TechRadar     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

I'm not usually a fan of games tied to products, they invariably end up being a bit second rate. Not so this rather awesome Tron game from Coca Cola to help promote Coke Zero.

Why is it awesome? Well to be honest you'd be better watching the promo video Coke have created to get an idea or better yet just download the game, it's free. For those who can't/won't do either of those things the basic idea is that you get a virtual Tron map to play around in, the map being based upon your current location. You create the famous light trails as you move about the map i.e. as you move about in real life. When some hapless person crashes into one of your light trails you get points.

So far the game is only available for the iPhone, but an Android version is on the way!

Beatles Sell 2 Million Tracks In 1st Week On iTunes    [ 24-11-2010 18:09 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: BGR     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

After last week's 'exciting' announcement from Apple that the Beatles would finally be coming to iTunes it's time to see just how the Fab Four have fared in El Jobso's Wonderland.

Pretty damned well would be the answer. In their first week of being available to iPhone and iPad wielding hipsters the Beatles have managed to shift a very impressive 2 million track downloads and a further 450,000 album downloads. The top selling album was Abbry Road, which managed to grab the number 6 spot on iTunes, and Here Comes the Sun was the biggest selling song.

Now that that is out of the way maybe the next 'exciting' announcement from Apple will be a cloud based music service?

Win Phone 7 Getting Angry Birds?    [ 24-11-2010 17:57 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Twitter viai IntoMobile     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Rovio, the chaps behind uber popular time filler Angry Birds, have been dropping hints via Twitter that the game may soon be winding its way to Windows Phone 7.

The company tweeted that there would be an announcement made on Angry Birds Day, 11th Decemeber (I know it's a popular game, but 'Angry Birds Day'? Seriously?). Anyhoo the announcement, it was said, might provide an update on what's happening with the game in terms of Microsoft's new platform.

The two companies haven't had the smoothest of relationships before now, with Microsoft making a gaffe in publicising Angry Birds on the Windows Phone website without Rovio knowing about it. That resulted in Rovio tweeting that they had no definite commitment to producing a Windows Phone version of the game. Hopefully that has now changed.

Sony Ericsson X10 Gets Stock Froyo ROM    [ 24-11-2010 17:45 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: XDA Devs     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Sony Ericsson's X10 flagship hasn't always had the easiest of times since it was first launched earlier this year. One of the biggest gripes, probably the biggest actually, has been the outdated version of Android it's running. Even with an update to Eclair (Android 2.1) the X10 is still running an older version of the OS.

Well there is some relief at hand as X10 owners now have the option of using a stock version of Froyo (Android 2.2). The stock option, as the name implies, does away with Mediascape and Timescape in favour of a layout the way Google intended.

Now before you chaps get all excited and go rushing to install this ROM you need to remember that this is not 100% perfect. There are a number of things that don't work properly such as video playback and various codecs. Still if you want to try it out any way head on over to XDA Devs and take a look for yourself.
