iPhone SMS Hacked In Less Than 20 Seconds    [ 25-03-2010 18:29 ]

Two security researchers at the Pwn2Own hacking contest have demonstrated an exploit that allows an iPhone's SMS storage to be pilfered. The exploit allowed the researchers to get a hold of all the SMS that had been sent and received as well as those that had been deleted! It's a pretty stunning exploit and apparently very simple to execute too, all that was needed was to dupe someone into visiting a malicious website from the handset's browser. The researchers say that texts aren't the only data they could steal though; the handset's contact list, emails and even stored photos could all be taken too. The exploit won them first prize and the details of the hack will be going to Cupertino for Apple's boffins to take a look at (and hopefully come up with a defence).
