X10 on Sale in the UK    [ 22-03-2010 17:39 ]

Sony Ericsson's long awaited Android flagship, the X10, has finally gone on sale in the UK. T-Mobile are selling the handset through their website albeit with a warning that it may take up to 10 days to deliver. Whether that means they expect great demand or they haven't physically gotten the handsets yet we don't know. Prices start at free if you choose a £35/month contract, but can go up to as much as £226 for those wanting a cheap contract. The other British networks are set to follow T-Mobile in the coming weeks. Last week Orange staff were given training on the X10 and both Orange and Vodafone are widely expected to release the handset in early April. Orange have the exclusive UK rights to the white version of the handset.

The handset itself has been described by some as 'make or break' for Sony Ericsson. With a string of faulty handsets over the past 18 months and much bad publicity surrounding them Sony Ericsson needs the X10 to do well, especially given recent financial results. If the X10 has a successful launch it may go some way to restoring Sony Ericsson's batteredimage.
