Flash 10.1 Coming Soon ... But Not For Everyone    [ 26-02-2010 20:15 ]

It's been a bit of a mixed bag for Flash 10.1 support on mobile devices today with the news that WinMo 6.5 won't be seeing the 10.1 version at all. This is apparently due to WinMo 6.5 not supporting certain APIs. It's not all bad news for Windows fans though as Flash 10.1 will be coming to Windows Phone 7 Series handsets, whenever they actually launch that is. If the news wasn't good for WinMo 6.5 users things weren't much better over in the Android camp. Basically Flash 10.1 won't be coming to every Android handset, indeed it looks like it won't be coming to the majority of Android handsets. Those handsets that don't have the ARM v7 Cortex xhip won't get it, which is every Android except for the Nexus One, the Droid and the forthcoming Legend and Desire handsets from HTC. Last but not least, and certainly not surprisng, is that that the iPhone won't be seeing any Flash support, continuing Apple's long held stance on not including the widely adopted platform in its mobile devices. Apple are saying that Flash drains the battery too quickly although Adobe are on record as saying that this isn't the case. At any rate Flash 10.1 will start to make an appearance by the middle of the year, well except if you have any of the handsets/platforms mentioned above!
