  Apple Ups 3G Download Limit    [ 19-02-2010 16:40 ]

Downloading large apps on the iPhone can be a frustrating experience because 3G is a no go if they're over 10 MB. However, that looks to have changed if preliminary reports are to be believed. Apple are said to have raised the limit to 20 MB, still low some might say, but the idea behind these limits is to protect that golden rule of Apple's 'the user experience'. Essentially Apple isn't super confident that mobile phone networks can offer a good experience when downloading truly large files over 3G. The increase was noticed on O2's network in the UK, which ironically is the worst 3G network in Britain both in terms of coverage and also for the numerous incidents reported over the past year or so of it having failed in certain areas. Whatever the case one assumes Apple is gaining more confidence in the ability of its partners to deliver the goods, quite literally.
