Video: HTC Schubert, Win Phone 7 Handset Leaks Out    [ 09-08-2010 17:18 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: 24/7 Windows Phone via Gizmodo     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The HTC leaks are coming thick and thin today! We've already had a good gawp at the Desire HD and now it seems that one of HTC's Windows Phone 7 handsets has also found its way onto the internet. The handset in question is Schubert, which features, like the Desire HD, an aluminium unibody design and it is being tipped as one of Windows Phone 7's flagship devices when the platform (and the handset) launches later this year. Frustratingly there's no detailed information on things like specifications or a release date, but as the launch day for Win Phone 7 draws ever nearer we can only expect to see and hear more of these handsets.

Video: iPhone4 ... Now With Flash!    [ 09-08-2010 17:10 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

For those who want to shorten the list of things their iPhone 4 can't do (such as make a phonecall without a case) there is Frash, bringing Flash support to Apple's finest. You may have heard of Frash before, it's a port of Adobe's Flash 10.1 that is usable on iPads and now iPhones. The port has been compiled again, but please note that this is an alpha build so don't be expecting everything to be ultra smooth and refined just yet. Having said that you can give this a bash just now if you'd like, just follow the instructions Engadget posted for bringing Flash to your iPad. There is also a video available for those not quite ready to take the plunge (or those Jobsian loyalists who refuse to try it at all!).

Video: HTC Desire HD Leaks Out    [ 09-08-2010 17:01 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Android Central     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

It's common knowledge that a Desire HD (or Ace as it's sometimes known) is on the way and it looks like the first images of it have now started appearing on the internet. The image is pretty clear for a change, no Mr Blurrycam for HTC it seems! Gone are the old style mechanical buttons of the Desire to be replaced by touch sensitive controls. The screen has changed too with a boost to 4.3".

The specs as they are currently known:

  • 4.3" WVGA screen
  • 8 MP camera
  • 1 GHz Snapdragon
  • HD 720p video recording
  • SRS Surround Sound
  • 4 GB internal storage
  • Running Froyo out of the box
  • Dual LED Flash

There is also a video of the Desire HD and again it's remarkably clear so feast your eyes:

Microsoft Debuts Win Phone 7 Apps    [ 09-08-2010 16:39 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: IntoMobile     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Microsoft have been debuting some of the apps that will ship with their forthcoming Windows Phone 7 platform. Most of the apps they showed off were the usual humdrum efforts like a calculator etc, but standing out from the crowd was Bing Translator, essentially Microsoft's version of Google Translator. To be fair to Microsoft they look to have developed a pretty tight little app here, functionality like pre-loaded phrases isn't something you get with Google Translate, for example. It will hook up to the cloud to grab new phrases and this could be a very handy tool indeed. The language selection is pretty limited right now, just English, Italian, French, Spanish and German, but no doubt Microsoft will add to it.

The source code for both Bing Translator and the other apps that Microsoft premiered will be released to app developers. How much will be done with these apps is anyone's guess at the moment, but it's a nice move from Microsoft, no doubt hoping to see some activity on the dev front to give the platform a leg up. Make sure you check out the apps being shown off in the video, but please note that it is a pretty long video, around 20 minutes long (oh and you need Silverlight).
