Samsung unleashes 8MP touchscreen Memoir handset for T-Mobile USA    [ 05-02-2009 19:53 ]

Samsung have today announced their Memoir handset - which sports such features as an 8MP camera, Xenon flash and large touchscreen. What's unique about he Memoir is that it's the first handset with an 8MP camera to be released in North America.

 

It'll be available on the T-Mobile network, priced at $299, on a two-year long contract, and should begin shipping later this month. Technical specifications of the Memoir include:

  • Connectivity: GSM, EDGE, 3G
  • Display: 3" touchscreen, 240 x 400 pixels, TouchWiz User Interface
  • Camera: 8MP, Xenon flash
  • Video recording: WVGA resolution - 720 x 480
  • Extras: Bluetooth, with A2DP and USB connectivity, A-GPS

An upcoming handset from Samsung - the i8910 has leaked. The model index indicates that the i8910 is a smartphone, said to run on the Symbian OS 5TH Edition. If rumours are to be believed, the i8910 will be the first mobile phone to shoot 720P High Definition video - at the 1280 x 720 resolution.

As you'd expect from such a device, it'll come in two versions - 8GB and 16GB varieties, and, for viewing HD videos shot on the device, a HDMI port is said to be present. Other rumoured features include:

  • Display: touch sensitive
  • Camera: 8MP
  • Extras: GPS, Wi-Fi, DNLA, 3.5 mm audio jack, DivX playback
