iPhone to Launch in China    [ 28-08-2009 17:23 ]

The iPhone is finally coming to the Middle Kingdom (that's China btw)! In a deal struck between Apple and China Unicom the Chinese market will at long last be able to officially get its hands on an iPhone. The deal is a three year exclusive meaning only China Unicom will be authorised to sell the handset in the Chinese market. However, there is no revenue sharing deal this time around, the handsets are being bought wholesale from Apple. On the subject of the handsets themselves it looks like there will be two versions offered by China Unicom. There's no word on what the specs of the handsets will be so whether this is just the standard 3G/3G S breakdown or something else is unknown as yet, but there has been talk of iPhones without WiFi. With 141 million customers China Unicom is a giant of a network and Apple will no doubt be looking forward to seeing iPhone sales figures jump up. Of course in a country were many people still live in poverty it will be interesting to see how China Unicom prices its iPhones ...

Apple Gives Spotify the Thumbs Up    [ 28-08-2009 16:55 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Mobiwoo     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Just yesterday we reported on the lack of progress in getting Spotify through the Apple App Store. What a difference a day makes! An Apple spokesperson told 'paidContentUK' that the Spotify app had been given the thumbs up and that it would be showing up in the app store "very soon". The lack of news had prompted many to assume that the app would probably be rejected for duplicating the iPod features of the iPhone, but it seems Apple has learned from its past mistakes and decided to give customers some choice. Spotify is only available in a handful of European countries at the moment, but they are planning on launching in the States soon and an App Store presence can only help that process.
