Crippled Qik App Launches on iPhone 3G S    [ 14-08-2009 15:38 ]

Qik, the popular video sharing and streaming service has finally officially launched on the iPhone 3G S. However, it lacks certain core functionality that renders it a bit of a lame duck. There is no support for live video streaming from the iPhone itself and the app only works over WiFi, not 3G. Those are two very large omissions and will probably severely dent the popularity the app may otherwise have enjoyed. The flaws are compounded by the fact that a version of Qik for jailbroken iPhones supports both the official version's missing features. On the plus side it does allow for content to be shared on social networks and it is free so at least it won't cost you anything, still ... seems a bit pointless without the features people will want most.
