Leo Superphone Step Closer to Reality with Leaked ROM    [ 17-08-2009 19:24 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The HTC Leo, a rumoured super high-end WinMo smartphone, was apparently seen in some renders leaked onto the web a few days ago. The renders weren't taken entirely seriously with many attributing them to the work of fans. However, that opinion changed today with the release of a ROM apparently confirming that the renders had at least some basis in reality. The specs list for Leo aren't known and speculation has been running rampant with features like a Snapdragon processor being regularly touted as well as speculation that it will be the worl's first capacative touchscreen WinMo device. WinMo 6.5 is the OS Leo will apparently be running by the way. Take a look at the video below to see the Leo startup sequence that ties in with the render leaks.

Storm2 Caught on Video Again    [ 17-08-2009 18:37 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Anyone who has been following the progress of the Blackberry Storm2 will by now be familiar with the pictures and videos already out on the tube sof this beast. Well there's another video for all you storm chasers today and it certainly does whet the appetite for this handset even though the device shown is running an older version of the OS the Storm2 will ship with. In fact the commentary in the video addreses this at one point, saying that even though the OS being used is an older version is is still far superior to that used on the original Storm! High praise indeed! The unit shown doesn't sport WiFi, but that's due to the OS being used, the release model of the Storm2 will most definitely feature WiFi.

12.0.0.24 N97 Update Is Out ... Users Underwhelmed    [ 17-08-2009 18:21 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: IntoMobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

A new frmware version for the N97 has been released, but it seems to be leaving users a bit underwhelmed. The update, titled 12.0.0.24, is a hefty download, weighing in at 146.4 MB. However, despite its size at least one user was left feeling as if he had wasted his time. Italis, a member of HowardForums said of the 12.0.0.24 update "...everything stayed absolutely the same…no kinetic scrolling…no skype…the phone does seem to operate somewhat faster…although ram remains at around 55mb on startup…all that hype for nothing…disappointment is setting in…" That's a pretty damning verdict on such a large update, but we'll see what others report as time goes on. Hopefully others see bigger performance improvements on their N97s.
