Microsoft & Nokia: Office for Symbian    [ 12-08-2009 20:18 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Microsoft and Nokia held a joint teleconference earlier today to announce the deployment of various Microsoft products on Nokia's Symbian platform. It may not live up to some of the rumours circling before the conference that Nokia was going to work on a WinMo device, but it's still an important announcement, for Symbian users at any rate. Office Mobile, Office Communicator Mobile, SharePoint and Microsoft System Centre are all coming to Symbian and there was a promise of future collaboration. For their part Nokia stated that they had no plans to work on a WinMo device, being quite happy as they are with Symbian. They did leave the door open though with a comment that there may be "other business opportunities" in the future. You can watch the teleconference in the video below courtesy of Engadget.

SE Unveil New Fashion Phone: Jalou    [ 12-08-2009 19:40 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Mobiwoo     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Sony Ericsson today unvieled their latest fashion phone ... Jalou. The clamshell handset is tiny, being just 73mm long, which is shorter than a tube of lipstick! The handset is obviously aimed more at the female market with features like a mirrored screen for checking up on your make-up. The handset also sports a 3.2 MP camera, quad-band GSM/EDGE, tri-band UMTS/HSPA, a 262k colour screen, and WalkMate, Sony Ericsson's fitness feature for keeping track of your excercise patterns.

Mobiwoo.com bagged some live pictures of the handset, which you can see below:

In addition to the normal retail version of Jalou Sony Ericsson have partnered with fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to offer an exclusive Dolce & Gabbana version of the handset. The D&G version comes with 24 carat gold plating and D&G content pre-loaded on the handset, such as photography and clips from D&G's autumn/winter collection. The D&G version also comes with three satin bags that can be used to either store the handset and its accessories or act as jewellery bags. The D&G version will only be available in select markets.
