WinMo 6.5 Final Build Video    [ 03-08-2009 18:13 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: IntoMobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The video below shows the final build of the much awaited Windows 6.5, which is due for release towards the end of this year. Most of the content will already be familiar to those who have been following 6.5's progress so we shan't re-hash old news. There is some new material in the video, however, especially some of the commentary. Apparently WinMo 6.5 and the even more eagrely anticipated WinMo 7 will be supported concurrently by Microsoft. That would make the decision to ditch the WinMo branding in favour of 'Windows Phone OS' quite rationale as it would eliminat what might be confusing numbering differences.

Sadly for fans of multi-touch it doesn't look promising for 6.5, which means that WinMo 7 will be the one to watch out for in that department. What is also of interest is the comment that Windows Phone OS will support all the expeiences you see on competing devices today. That idea lends itself to many possibilities and puts quite a bit of pressur eon Microsoft to deliver. That's great news for consumers of course, but Microsoft will have quite a bit of catching up to do in terms of user experience whe compared with other platforms.

Blackberry App World Gets 1.1 Update    [ 03-08-2009 17:58 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Pocket-lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

RIM have launched an update to their Blackberry App World store, bringing it up to version 1.1. Changes include more search categories such as newest apps and developer name. There has also been a push into more markets with version 1.1. now being made available in ten more countries: Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and the Channel Islands. The Blackberry App World app itself is available to download in five different languages; English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. The apps themselves have seen some changes, such as the archive ability. Instead of apps solely relying upon flash memory they can now be backe donto a memory card and then reinstalled when needed. The expansion especially will be seen as an important step in maintaining RIM's position in what is becoming a very crowded market with ever more companies looking to setup their own app stores.
