Vodafone to Launch 50p/Day Browsing    [ 30-04-2009 21:08 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Pocket Lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Vodafone UK has some good news for mobile data fans with the introduction of a 50p per day flat rate tariff from 1st May. The tariff will activate for those who don't already have a data bundle with their monthly contract and nothing needs needs to be setup or activated at the user's end. As an added extra Vodafone are giving all their customers free data usage for the day on launch day, otherwise dubbed 'Freeday'. With most other British networks offering flat rate daily browsing at double, or even quadruple, the cost of Vodafone's new tariff this could be a real winner for Vodafone, or better yet, spark a price war that would see other networks follow suit.

Motorola Sees Q1 Sales Slump    [ 30-04-2009 19:04 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Troubled Motorola has more bad news for industry analysts as its first quarter results don't look too rosy. The manufacturer fell just short of its goal of $5.62 billion in sales with sales of $5.4 billion. Motorola's handset division accounted for $1.8 billion of that figure with 14.7 million handsets having been shipped, which gives Motorola a 6% share of the global mobile phone market. Although some had projected worse the end result was a 45% downturn in sales in its handset division in comparison to Q1 2008, reaffirming the trouble that the handset division has seen of late. What all this translates to is a $291 million loss for the company, which Motorola hopes can be turned around with the launch of various new handsets this year, including at least running Android.

T-Mobile G1 Gets Cupcake Update    [ 30-04-2009 15:31 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: Boy Genius Report & Slash Gear     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Hungry G1 users on T-Mobile can satiate their hunger with a cupcake, more precisely Cupcake 1.5. The update is now being sent out to G1's for users to update. Custom ROMs, however, may not get the notification that an update is available and will have to be removed. Amongst the new features in 1.5 is an official on-screen keyboard. The download is OTA and comes in at around 44 Mb; it's available to T-Mobile UK and U.S. customers. T-Mobile UK were kind enough to have released the news via their Twitter feed @Tmobile_UK.
