Orange recently started offering Blackberry Pearls on PAYG tariffs in the UK and T-Mobile, never one to be outdone, have announced a new 'Pay Once' concept for the Blackberry Pearl 8110. Basically you pay £180 upfront and you not only get the handset, but unlimited e-mail and internet usage too (presumably there is a fair use clause in there somewhere).
The rest of the deal e.g. calls, texts, etc are charged on a PAYG basis like any other PAYG handset. Networks have been looking at untapped Blackberry markets who might be put off by contracts or who can't get a contract in the first place. This deal will put T-Mobile at the forefront of that battle given that it will be only the second Blackberry PAYG deal in the UK and by far the better value. T-Mobile UK's Head of Internet and Entertainment, Richard Warmsley, has suggested that should this offer prove successful the concept could be applied to other devices.

Good news ahead if you are an Orange customer and a fan of Wikipedia; they have announced a 'wide ranging partnership'. The agreement will extend to Orange's networks in the UK, Poland, Portugal, Spain and of course Orange's home territory of France, and users in these countries will have 'quick and simple' access to 'co-branded content'.
Orange will be creating tailored web channels and widgets to facilitate easy access to Wikipedia content from their mobile phone. Commenting for the Wikimedia Foundation, Executive Director Sue Gardner said, "The Wikimedia Foundation is dedicated to spreading knowledge to as many people as possible, in as many ways as possible. Orange's leadership in mobile and focus on innovation makes them an ideal partner to help us extend our reach. The Foundation welcomes partnerships that help us carry out our mission and that respect the valuable contributions of the Wikimedia community."
