AT&T Leaked Chart: iPhone vs Pre    [ 22-04-2009 21:14 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Precentral via Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

A leaked memo from American iPhone supplier AT&T gives the Palm Pre a bit of a bashing in a comparison chart with the iPhone. Clearly the chart is meant to highlight points to use in winning potential Pre customrs over to the iPhone.

Some of the points mentioned seem plain silly, for example, the Pre is said to have limited Wi-Fi access, presumably because it can't access AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots for free like the iPhone can. On the other hand the there are some valid points such as a lack of global roaming. Click the picture above to see the chart full size.

Perhaps the most striking thing about this chart is that it exists at all. That speaks volumes as to how seriously AT&T are taking the Pre.

Comes With Music Apparently Doesn't Come With Many Customers    [ 22-04-2009 17:34 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: BBC     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia's much publicised 'Comes With Music' service hasn't been as successful as had been expected in the UK according to a consultancy report. Music Ally is claiming that Comes With Music has managed to attract only 23,000 subscribers in the UK since its launch in 2008. For its part Nokia isn't confirming the figures.

A spokesman for Music Ally laid the situation in blunt terms:

"If anything I was rather kind in not saying it was a complete catastrophe. It's a big disappointment because very rarely, if ever, have we seen a digital music service that's been so widely promoted in the mainstream media."

The news isn't all bad for Nokia though as recent figures show that the Nokia 5800 is shipping a million units a month.
