Apple has filed a new patent – known as Solar cells on portable devices. Clearly, they hope to integrate them into small devices, such as iPods and iPhones. Judging by what the application says, Apple wants to cover the device in question in a layer of solar cells. Should this come to fruition, it would certainly extend battery life to no end, especially on devices using 3G and Wi-Fi.

However, it is not all good news, there are a few challenges to be had – limited space for the solar panels, effectively wasting the space on portable devices. Perhaps most interestingly, is putting the solar panels behind the screen – the panel would take in ambient light, which passes through the screen, potentially eliminating any additional energy that solar panels tend to use.

Last week, it was thought that N-Gage games would not be transferable to another phone, should a person buy a new handset. That certainly caused some uproar between users. However, today, that announcement has been overturned. Nokia put it down to "A miscommunication is blamed for users not being told". It is currently unknown when this will be put in place, but it shouldn't be too far off of the horizon.

Hopefully, the announcement of Nokia's upcoming E66, E71, and 7310 handsets isn't that far off, now that the official press images have shown up on several news sites. The E66 is the successor to the E65 slider, and the E71 is the successor to the E61, with a full QWERTY keypad. Both devices will ship with 128MB RAM, 3.2mp cameras, with forward-facing cameras for video calling.
