HTC Diamond to come in two variants – one with QWERTY keyboard    [ 28-05-2008 14:17 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: intomobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Normally, operator branding is simply the case of putting an operator logo on a handset, and adding operator-exclusive themes and wallpapers. This is not the case however, for HTC's Diamond handset - it will have an identical twin of sorts – the MDA Compact IV, with the addition of a full QWERTY keyboard, and the designing on the back of the handset is more smooth compared to the rigid lines on the regular Diamond handset.

This exclusive Diamond will be exclusively available for T-Mobile, for countries in the European Union. Specification-wise, everything else remains the same.

Web-savvy Samsung L870 borrows from Apple    [ 28-05-2008 11:13 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

In an odd move by Samsung, they have equipped their Symbian series 60 L870 with the exact same browser as featured on Apple's iPhone. Of course, you won't get all of the cool touchscreen gestures, due to the fact that the L870 does not come equipped with a touchscreen. Expect to see it in European countries from August, pricing is unknown at present.

Now, let us run over the renaming specifications of this device:

  • Connectivity: HSDPA 3.6Mbps, tri-band 900/1800/1900 GSM
  • Operating System: Symbian 9.3 with S60 and Feature Pack 2
  • Screen: 2.4” QVGA, showing up to sixteen million colours
  • Camera: Three megapixels
  • Memory: 100MB built-in, with Micro SD card slot, supporting up to 4GB
  • Applications: Quick Office document viewer and Apple's Webkit-based browser
  • Extras: Bluetooth and USB connectivity Dimensions: 103.5 x 50.5 x 13.5mm
