Two more Sony Ericsson handsets leaked    [ 16-06-2008 20:20 ]

Last week, Sony Ericsson's highest profile phone to date was leaked, and now two more devices share that honor – the S302, and the F305. The S302 is a mid-end cameraphone – on the camera side of things, it has a fixed focus two megapixel camera, with photolight, and photofix, first seen in the K810. In terms of connectivity, there's Quad-band GSM support. Of course, no cameraphone is complete without video recording support, the resolution is currently unknown, but there's 20MB of internal memory, which won't tie you over for all that long, but, thankfully, a Micro M2 card slot is present, allowing you to store more photos and videos. For a mid-end cameraphone, the screen could be a little better, but a 176 x 220 pixel 2” display should be sufficient for most.

As for extras, the usual suspects are present – Bluetooth 2.0, with A2DP support, USB 2.0 connectivity, and an FM radio. Measuring 101 x 46 x 11 mm, and weighing 79 grams, the S302 will fit in almost any pocket. Look for it to ship sometime in the fourth quarter.

The other leaked Sony Ericsson is a mid-end gaming device - the F305. Again, it features Quad-band GSM connectivity, with EDGE support. There's 10MB less memory than on the S302, but the M2 card slot is still present. The screen is the same as on the S302 - 176 x 220 pixels, measuring 2”. There's USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 2.0, with A2DP support, for music streaming. A it's a mid-end gaming-centric device, one of its strongest points is its built-in accelerometer, allowing you to control games by tilting the handset around. There's also a set of gaming keys too – the d-pad, and two buttons above the screen, much like the W550. The F305 measures 96 x 47 x 14.6 mm, and will ship a little earlier than the S302 – sometime in the third quarter of this year. Both handsets should be announced tomorrow.

Nokia E66 and E71 now official    [ 16-06-2008 17:20 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia has unveiled two long-awaited E-Series devices – the E66 – the successor to the E65, and the E71 – the E61's successor. Of course, by now, everyone should know almost everything about each device, nevertheless, it's good to have it in writing and official

The E66 is the same slider form factor as the E65 – they look virtually identical, however, the E66 will ship in both white and steel colours, as opposed to the E65's grey and red colours. On the camera front, the E66 gets an upgrade from 2 to 3 megapixels, with the addition of autofocus and an LED flash. Video can be recorded in QVGA resolution. Also, there's a GPS receiver built-in, as first seen in the N95. On the connectivity front, users can now enjoy faster downloads, with HSDPA connectivity. The battery capcity is 100 mAh. If the built-in 110MB memory isn't up to scratch, you can expand it, currently up to 8GB, in the form of Micro SD cards. The E66 is also quite a bit slimmer than the E65, given all of the feature upgrades it has.

The E65 measured in at 105 x 49 x 15.5 mm, and weighs 121 grams, whereas the E66 measures 107 x 49 x 13 mm, and weighs 115 grams. Nokia's proprietary pop port connector has been dumped, in favour of a Mini USB port, and there's also a 2.5 mm jack too. The E66 has gotten an OS upgrade to S60 Feature Pack 1 too. Bluetooth has been updated from version 1.2 to 2.0, with A2DP support, and Wi-Fi is still present obviously. An accelerometer s n-board, for auto screen rotation. The E66 will begin shipping from next month, at a price of €350, before taxes and subsidies.

The E71 employs the same monoblock form factor as the E61, with the QWERTY keyboard still present. Like the E66, it has built-in GPS, HSDPA support, and the camera is now 3.2 megapixels, and an LED flash. It's not all upgrades however, as the screen has shrunk from 2.8” down to 2.36”, still at QVGA resolution. The keyboard has also shrunk quite a bit. But, bare in mind that the E61 is 14 mm thick (117 x 69.7 x 14 mm, weighing 144 grams).

Whereas the E71 measures 114 x 57 x 11 mm, and weighs 126 grams – that's 3 mm shaved off the thickness, and yet the battery remains the capacious 1500 mAh BP-4L. There's even a forward-facing camera for video calls over 3G networks. The E71 also runs on S60 FP1, and has a Micro USB and 2.5 mm port. The E71 will launch in both black and white, as opposed to the E61's silver colour. Like the E66, the E71 features a built-in accelerometer, for automatic screen rotation. Again, the E71 will begin shipping in selected markets from next month, for €350 before taxes and subsidies. Until then, you can read our in-depth look of the E71 here.
