Firefox Mobile, which is currently in its Alpha stage, and is in development for Nokia’s Internet Tablet Devices – such as the Nokia N800, and N810, as well as the Windows Mobile platform, will also apparently be making its way on to Symbian-powered devices. Says Mozilla's Christian Sejersen, on the matter “in order for Mozilla to be relevant in the smartphone space, it needs to have a presence on the Symbian platform.

Being as, in Q3 of this year, Symbian had 49.8% of the total number of smartphones sold, Mozilla is very wise to target the platform, with its upcoming mobile browser.  It’s thought that the Symbian version could see a release, sometime within the next few months.

Nokia announced their Nokia Messaging service two weeks ago, which gives users mobile access to the world’s most popular email and IM accounts, as well as Mail on OVI support, has gone out of the Beta stage, with the final, non-Beta version now officially available. As of now, the service is available in Finland, Germany, UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, Australia and Venezuela, with more countries to follow. Note, the Beta version was free to use, the final release is not so. There are several new features and fixes in the final version, which are as follows:

  • Support for more S60 handsets
  • Support for up to ten email addresses
  • Yahoo! Mail support
  • Support for subfolders on IMAP email accounts
  • Support for Google Apps hosted email
  • The inbox opens faster
  • Enhanced inbox navigation
  • Sent emails are synced to your webmail’s sent folder

To add to that, Nokia Communication Centre 2.0, which lets you access all your messages, contacts, and calendar effortlessly in one location from your PC, and comes apart of Nokia PC Suite, has also left the Beta stages.
