There are in the region of sixty million people in the UK, and, by the end of 2007, there were 70.99 million mobile phone connections – scary thought, isn't it? From 2006-2007, the amount of customers rose from 2.1% to 6.2%. Vodafone had a lot to do with the increase of customers – they were the only network operator to record over 10% – in terms of customer growth last year, with 3 recording 8.4%, for comparison.
Vodafone also had the largest marketshare – peaking at 23.6%, whilst Orange had 22.1% - adding just 0.31 million customers to its network. Meanwhile, T-Mobile saw its marketshare drop, for the fifth year running – at 14.5%. Virgin, who 'piggybank' off of T-Mobiles network, recorded 6.3%, and 3 recorded 4.4%.

Today, six new handsets were leaked with pictures, and brief technical specifications for each device. There is something for everyone, in these six handsets. The M620 is a low-end device, with a VGA cmera, USB, and Bluetooth support. The B510 is much the same as the M620, but with a CSTN screen instead. The B300 is much the same, but it's a clamshell instead of a slider.

According to Stuff – a UK-based technology magazine/website, network operator has slashed the price of the iPhone by £100, to £169. However, this applies to the 8GB model only – the 16GB model remains the same price, at £329. It's £169 – no matter what contract you opt for. Those that purchased it within the past month will receive an £100 refund voucher. The deal is set to expire in June, however.
