The International Forum Design site has posted pictures and the short description of an unknown mobile phone BenQ S7. It got iF Design Award China 2007 in “Communication & Entertainment”. This is a candy bar handset packed in the metallic shell. According to the source, it is designed for business users. The source mentions the support of 3G networks, GPS and multimedia functionality (no details). The picture gives us a hint that the device has two cameras – one on the rear panel and the frontal camera for video calls. Other specs might be unveiled at the official announcement. BenQ hasn’t disclosed any info on the model so far.

VITO Technology has announced the release of ZoomBoard application for communicators powered by Windows Mobile. Virtually this is an onscreen keyboard for a quick and accurate text input on mobile devices with the touch-sensitive display and without the QWERTY-keyboard. The application has the following peculiarity: its magnifying glass can zoom in the keyboard area under your finger. To type a letter you have to touch the screen, see it marked in red and lift your finger.
The price tag for ZoomBoard makes up $9.95. Here you can download the demo and buy the application.

Samsung Electronics will be awarded 32 prizes for innovative design and technical solutions at the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be hold in Las Vegas on January 8-10, 2008. The list of prize-winners was announced on November 14, it contains 12 audio/video and consumer products by Samsung (4 TV sets, an MP3-player, a home theater, a camcorder, a combi HD player, a Bluetooth headset, a refrigerator and 2 media players).
In addition there are 20 IT and mobile devices in the list (2 printers, 3 monitors, 13 mobile phones, a UMPC and a solid disk drive.
Besides Bluetooth-speakers and UniCell personal base stations are awarded Best Innovations 2008. Samsung’s acoustic Bluetooth-system automatically finds and connects MP3-players and mobile phones with Bluetooth in the effective zone. The user can enjoy 3-channel volume sound without making extra moves.
Samsung has developed the UbiCell – the world first home base station, which can handle dead spots in homes. This ultra slim base station is designed for easy installation and use, it provides service continuity be securing indoor coverage in homes.
In 2007 Samsung Electronics won 12 prestige prizes, the number of which grew to total of 32 units. This time Samsung Techwin also got the award for the digital camera. The company has strengthened its position with IT-products and displays. Samsung enjoyed the success with its ultra mobile PC (UMPC).
Samsung is one of the world giants in mobile phones sphere, in 2007 it was awards CES Innovations prizes for 3 handsets. This year the company’s leadership has become more obvious – 13 prizes for mobile phones and accessories (the base station for home use, 4 Bluetooth-phones and 8 other mobile phones including Blackjack 2 and UpStage).
