According to the recent research by iSupply, the demand for mobile devices with touchscreens is ever growing, and Apple iPhone hasn’t started, but joined to the tendency. iSupply forecasts that by 2012 touchscreen revenues will increase to $4.4 billion, against $2.4 billion in 2006.

Analysts note that initially touchscreen displays were used mainly in PDA, communicators, mobile phones and other consumer’s compact devices. Soon they will be widely applied in all electronics spheres: navigation systems for cars and planes, various machines and home electronics.

Currently the structure is as shown below:

After the reorganization the current Business groups and Horizontal groups in the device business will be replaced by 3 key units: Devices, responsible for creating the best device portfolio on the market, Services & Software, reflecting company’s strategic emphasis on growing its offering of consumer Internet services and enterprise solutions and software; and Markets, in charge of management of Nokia’s supply chains, sales channels and marketing activities. Besides Nokia will establish a Chief Development Office for active support for integration across the units in conjunction with the CEO.

From January 1, 2008 onwards, Nokia will have two reportable segments in the new structure: Devices & Services and Nokia Siemens Networks, on which the company will report on quarterly and annual basis.
