Opera Mini Dimension: some details [ 09-06-2007 14:49 ]

About a month ago we wrote about upcoming beta tests of a new Opera Mini version codenamed Dimension. But the tests haven’t been announced yet. The Dimension developers team has shared some details on product’s capabilities. The browser will be based on a completely new code, which will make it faster, clearer and simpler in use. Being small and fast Opera Mini Dimension will support more web-standards.

Besides the developers announced the contest aimed to find main new feature of Dimension. According to the official blog, there will be just 3 winners of all the guessers. In the Internet you can come across a photo of an unknown Nokia phone. The source didn’t provide any details. According to the photo, this is a clamshell phone with a large external display. There are dedicated player buttons on the front panel. Besides the device is equipped with a camera. It’s not clear whether it will come out in orange shell with silver insertion, or it’s just a prototype color solution.

Rumors float in the Internet suggesting that Palm is about to release a new communicator Palm Gandolf. There is a photo of it, however its quality leaves much to be desired. The pic might be scanned from a printed page, the source says, but also it might be another Photoshop pattern.

Reportedly, the device supports EV-DO standard, has a built-in camera, microSD slot and Bluetooth interface. Palm Gandolf can be picked from Sprint stores for some $200.

Samsung Electronics has announced the release of a new MP3-player YP-U3. It is made as a tiny USB-drive with a sliding connector and can be plugged directly to PC USB port. Besides the player can be used as an ordinary external storage drive to carry large data.

Samsung U3 is available in 5 color solutions: White, Light Green, Rosy, Blue and Black. The kit contains a translucent clip to wear the player on the clothes. The player features 4-lines OLED-display, sensor buttons and longer battery life on a single charge (up to 15 hours). The U3 comes with an integrated FM-radio and voice recorder supporting 3 modes: 32/64/128 kbps.
