The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved Philips Xenium 9@9W phone. This is another model featuring long battery life. The phone is packed in a candy bar form, besides it’s quite slim. ASUS has unveiled a new GPS-navigator R600. The device is peculiar for a built-in sensor, which can adjust display brightness automatically depending on the light level. In addition the R600 features multimedia capabilities – images, video, music. The navigator supports Bluetooth Handsfree, so the driver can keep attention to the road and answer an incoming call at the same time.

LG Electronics has announced preliminary financial results of 2Q 2007 ended on June 30. According to the company, sales gains were 10 430 billion Won (approx. $11.227 million), a 12% rise compared to 2Q 2006. Operating earnings reached for 464 billion Won (approx. $499 million), a year on year growth of 50%.

Earnings in mobile communications sphere achieved 2.865 billion Won (some $3.084 million), a 24.4% rise against the same period last year Operating earnings grew by 11.3%. LG Electronics reports evident progress in handset segment. Overall shipments level in 2Q is 19.1 million devices and 34.9 million units over two quarters.
