Samsung Electronics: 2Q 2007 financial results    [ 17-07-2007 18:15 ]

Samsung Electronics has reported financial results of 2Q 2007 ended on June 30. The company earned 1.42 trillion Won, sales during the quarter grew to 14.63 trillion Won. According to the main report operating profit made up 0.91 trillion Won and according to the consolidated report about 1.4 trillion Won.

The company achieved high performance in such business divisions as telecoms, liquid crystal displays and digital media technologies. The same time semiconductor division was the major exception with falling net profit.

Telecommunication Network Business recorded 4.5 trillion Won earnings and 350 billion Won operating profit. The consolidated report posted 500 billion Won.

Samsung Electronics believes that strong sales in premium class, including “Ultra Edition” series, and growing developing markets helped sales reach 37.4 million units. Steady performance allowed the company to up its sales to over 150 million units.

Samsung Electronics has offered an alternative to its high-end models in the low-end segment for the users who can’t afford expensive phones, but still want to have a stylish handset. One of such phones is the SGH-C450, it seems to borrow much from the SGH-X820 (Ultra Edition 6.9). However the price is affordable, according to the manufacturer.

Justamp has posted more images of Nokia’s concept-phones. These are just concepts and it’s a mystery whether they will be ever released. Among them we can see quite interesting solutions, for example, ergonomic flex forms, devices with touch-sensitive control and hinge bottom.

At Motorola’s site popped up a photo of not yet announced handset i290. It is designed for iDEN networks, the technology worked up by the company itself.

There is no more info on the model at the site except for the photos. Reportedly, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved Motorola i290, and it will post the details next month.
