Bluetooth-navigator Samsung STT-D370 enters the market    [ 23-01-2007 18:34 ]

Samsung Electronics, a leading telecoms maker, is starting shipments to the Korean market of a Bluetooth-navigator STT-D370, which can be connected with mobile phones via Bluetooth. It features the latest technologies, such as Transport Protocol Experts Group (TPEG) and T-DMB (mobile television).

Samsung STT-D370 is the first GPS (Global Positioning Systems) navigator communicating with the phone via Bluetooth. Its microphone and speakerphone let the user receive and make phone calls, create SMS omitting the mobile phone.

The Bluetooth-navigator carries an integrated Real 3D map developed by Samsung, so the driver can view the route in 3D mode. Anycall Land lets updating the maps and downloading the latest versions.

The STT-D370 supports dynamic navigation, which involves TPEG info and updates it every 5 minutes via terrestrial DMB channels. It is meant to choose the optimal route taking into account road situation online.

This is quite a compact navigator, 16.8 mm thick, with a 3.7” LCD screen and a higher capacity battery. So the user can enjoy navigation driving a car or walking.

Samsung STT-D370 supports various multimedia functions – for example, it is equipped with a Personal Media Player (PMP), an MP3-player, an e-translator, a dictionary and an expansion slot for SD cards. Besides it can view office documents. The device is already available in Korean shops at the recommended price of some $600.

In the internet you can come across the info on a new communicator by ASUSTeK Computer – ASUS P735. It is expected to support 3G networks and GPS-functionality. According to GPSandGo site, this is an heir of the first ASUSTeK GPS-communicator – the P535. It will have similar design – the classical candy bar without additional keyboards.

I’d remind you that there has emerged early info on a GPS-communicator under the codename Pegasus equipped with the digital keyboard and packed in the form-factor like Asus P525. GPSandGo provided the info that the Pegasus doesn’t support 3G networks, and ASUS P735 is likely to become the first 3G GPS-communicator by ASUSTeK. There are no more details on the specs or the release date, so far.

There has been released another update of free VoIP-client fring – BETA 2.67. This time the update concerns the version for Symbian 8 smartphones. According to the developer, the new version features improved sound quality and optimized battery use, battery life is expected to be improved by over 300%.

The changes in functions are as follows: the opportunity to adjust sound volume during the call and to log voice calls, displaying contact name, contact type (GSM, Skype or Google), date and time of the call, status (dialed, missed, received). Samsung Electronics is about to release a simple mobile phone with the index SGH-C140, which is likely to replace another low-end phone C130. Unlike the previous model the C140 has a more expensive design. It differs in Mobile4 Tracker function, which constantly informs the user via SMS about the SIM card number inserted in his or her phone. So there is more chances to find a lost or stolen phone.
