KU970: 3G-tailored Shine    [ 19-02-2007 09:21 ]

Author: Verа Kozlova   Source: iDNES.cz     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

LG Electronics has developed a 3G edition of its LG Shine handset that will be going by the name of "KU970", while the GSM version of the Shine, whose sales kicked off not so long off, has "KE970" index.

3G Shine is expected to maintain the same dimensions (99,8x50,6x13,8 mm) and share the design with its predecessor, so that the foremost difference will lie in support for 3G and HSDPA allowing for faster data. Over and above, it will get a forward-facing VGA camera for video calls and 512 Mb of memory (which can be bolstered with microSD memory cards) onboard.

As for the rest, the KU970 comes bundled with the same features - QVGA display, 2 Mpix camera powered by Schneider-Kreuznach, stereo-sound ready Bluetooth and so on. The 3G Shine is expected to start shipping in the second half of 2007.

Sony Ericsson to release Wi-Fi enabled M600i - gossip    [ 19-02-2007 08:10 ]

Author: Verа Kozlova   Source: SE-World     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Another attack of fever is raging over the Net, as lately there have been some photos floating around, presumably featuring the successor to the M600i communicator by Sony Ericsson. In fact the handset that would take the place of the M600i has been craved after for quite a while now, as the original model falls flat when it comes to called-for features such as imaging capabilities and support for Wi-Fi wireless connectivity. The rumor has it that the device in the snaps is the upgrade everyone's been waiting for, codenamed Lizy and equipped with Wi-Fi.

For those who still aren't aware of what Sony Ericsson M600i is - it's a communicator with a very unique QWERTY-keyboard, targeted at the enterprise segment and running on Symbian OS 9.1, based off UIQ 3 platform.
