Quite a time has passed since the show of the first mobile phone proto working on fuel cell, besides the technology hasn’t got industrial implementation in IT sphere. One of the reasons is the peril of methanol used as fuel. In particular, air carriers do not admit the transportation onboard.

That is why the companies engaged in developing fuel cell only provide the manufacturers with their production, so they can demonstrate the protos at exhibitions.

Well, Toshiba has exhibited such a product at 3GSM show – this isn’t a mobile phone, but an audio player made in the form of the headphones. The developer achieved good battery time performance with 4 ml or 5 ml methanol tanks – about 10 hours. Besides the proto is powered by a traditional Li-Ion battery, when the fuel cell energy fades away.
