At 3GSM Congress a BenQ-Siemens-branded smartphone is currently being showcased - it runs on Windows Mobile 6 Standard, but that is all official information we have to date, and we don't even know when it is due out. However over at Modopo there are some details on the phone, including the fact that it will be known as BenQ-Siemens E72.

The smartphone is tailored for GSM networks and works in tri-band mode, supporting GPRS and EDGE protocols. The E72 is powered by TI OMAP 1030 CPU running at 260 MHz, 64 Mb of RAM and 1287 Mb of flash-memory. The display this phone retains proves QVGA resolution. Over and above the E72 houses a 2 Mpix camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity.

HTC P3400: affordable no-nonsense communicator    [ 14-02-2007 12:52 ]

Author: Verа Kozlova     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Without much of a fuss HTC announced another newcomer to its range, in addition to the trio we saw yesterday - HTC P3400. This communicator is housed in a very pocketable candy-bar form-factor, positioned as an ultimate tool for business-users, not willing to bash their own wallets.

In the sense of the feature pack the P3400 is very akin to Qtek S200, though some changes are there: the model has been put on a diet and this is notable, IrDA has gone missing, while the proprietary HTC ExtUSB socket has gotten on the board. Unlike the latest and greatest solutions by the company, this offering adopts a "blast-from-the-past" - SD/IO memory card slot. The P3400 will be running Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition. No word on release dates yet.

Specifications for HTC P3400:

  • GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), GPRS and EDGE
  • 2,8-inch touch display with QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution
  • TI OMAP 850 CPU running at 200 MHz
  • 64 Mb of RAM and 128 Mb of flash-memory
  • SDIO and MMC memory expansion slot
  • 2 Mpix camera
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0
  • HTC ExtUSB socket
  • 1250 mAh Li-Pol battery
  • Talk time - 3,5-5 hours
  • Standby time - 150-200 hours
  • Dimensions- 109x58x17,65 mm
  • Weight - 126 grams (battery included)
