Not long ago Dell had stopped shipments of its Axim x51 handheld and seemed to abandon the PDA market. At once rumors floated in the Internet that Dell would release smartphones and communicators. And indeed, there emerged some info (not officially confirmed yet) that Quanta may be developing a new communicator for Dell. The new model is expected to be launched in 4Q 2007.
Quanta shared little info about the device, it is codenamed “Fly”, it will be powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS and support HSDPA standard. The communicator is likely to have a QWERTY-keyboard, though feature matters have yet to be determined.
Quanta is currently the notebook supplier for Dell, at the same time it is making communicators and 3G handsets for Hewlett Packard and O2. Well, now the companies will apparently cooperate in this sphere. So let’s follow the process and wait for more details.
