Motorola Q q9 renamed to MOTO Q 9h    [ 19-04-2007 18:00 ]

For some unknown reason Motorola did change the name of Motorola Q q9 smartphone. At least the official site calls it MOTO Q 9h. The smartphone debuted at 3GSM Congress as Motorola Q q9. It works in GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and supports HSDPA high speed data transfer standard. Powered by Windows Mobile 6 Standard OS the device comes with a QWERTY-keyboard, a 2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0 interface.

On the face of it, the specs remained the same, the device got only renamed. Maybe the h stands for HSDPA? Nobody knows, and Motorola keeps it a mystery.

The documents of US Patent Office contain Microsoft’s patent application. It is for a dynamic tiled interface. The screen area and the elements can be tuned by the user. The user interface can be applied in almost any mobile devices such as smartphones and personal digital assistants.

There are several opinions on the future application of this tiled interface. It might be used in Microsoft Zune players or probably Windows Mobile devices will switch to such an interface. We can only guess, one thing is for sure, the iPhone-like user interface is becoming ever popular.

Author: Verà Kozlova   Source: OnlyUMPC     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

A new proto of an ultra mobile PC by Fujitsu was introduced at Intel Developer Forum in Peking. Besides Intel announced a new platform for mobile Internet devices (MID) and UMPC at IDF. After it came UMPC protos including Fujitsu’s unit.

I’d remind you that the company had claimed long ago its intentions to release such devices, and it offered concept models. This time we have a real device. No more details are known, so far. But the UMPC is handy and has a full featured QWERTY-keyboard, so it can be used as a small notebook or a tablet PC.
