Nokia expects to start selling mobile devices using WiMAX Internet technology in early 2008, the world's top handset maker said on Monday. WiMAX allows very high-speed Internet access from laptops, phones or other mobile devices over greater distances than previous technologies.
Nokia plans to bring its first WiMAX enabled mobile device to market in early 2008," Nokia said in a statement.WiMAX will make wireless broadband much cheaper to deliver -- up to 10 times cheaper than current third-generation cellular telephony networks. But, while it provides fast Internet access, it is not very well suited for wireless voice calls.
The radio spectrum for WiMAX networks is rented out by regulators at more affordable prices than for 3G mobile phone spectrum, and WiMAX equipment vendors claim the infrastructure and handheld devices will be cheaper than 3G systems.

iPhone has already passed several of its required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June as planned. We can't wait until customers get their hands (and fingers) on it and experience what a revolutionary and magical product it is. However, iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price -- we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned. While Leopard's features will be complete by then, we cannot deliver the quality release that we and our customers expect from us. We now plan to show our developers a near final version of Leopard at the conference, give them a beta copy to take home so they can do their final testing, and ship Leopard in October. We think it will be well worth the wait. Life often presents tradeoffs, and in this case we're sure we've made the right ones.

Rumors float around that Sony Ericsson may be announcing a couple of phones in May. One of the forums posted spypics of the phones, on them you can make out company’s water marks. The pics are of poor quality, which hints at an ambiguous origin.
As far as the specs go, they are interesting, though not full. The first device under the codename Shinobu belongs to the Walkman series, this is a 12.5-mm thick slider. It is equipped with a 2.4” QVGA display and a 2-megapixel camera. Shinobu supports HSDPA standard and should cost about $582.
The second one goes under the codename Nicole. This is a simpler phone, it might be a product resulted from the cooperation with Sagem. According to the source, it features a 2” QCIF display, a 2-megapixel camera and 3G networking. The approximate price tag for Nicole makes up $262.
