We’ve got new info on Samsung Q1 Ultra mobile PC. In fact, this is an updated and improved version of Samsung Q1 UMPC. It features Windows Vista OS, a 7” WSVGA display and a built-in QWERTY-keyboard.
Initially the bid was $2400 – too expensive for such a device. However Samsung fixed the price for Samsung Q1 Ultra with HSDPA at €1200 (i.e. about $1600), according to UMPCportal (availability in May-June). For example, Tablet Store Germany offers the device at this price (the sales currently being idle). However the vendor hasn’t yet provided official announcements on this matter.

MyMobile911 shared the info that T-Mobile will launch a new communicator with the sliding QWERTY-keyboard in August 2007. Probably it will be called T-Mobile Wing. This is a version of HTC Atlas (there was no info on this platform so far). The original release date was set for June 2007, but some technical problems delayed it, the source added.
The specs of T-Mobile Wing:
As we can notice the specs are similar to HTC P4350 (the codename Herald). It’s still a mystery what are the differences between them.

Palm has announced it is developing a new Linux platform for mobile devices. Palm CEO Ed Colligan reported that the new OS will combine features of Garnet OS (ex Palm OS) and a Linux core. Palm owns perpetual license for Garnet OS code, which allows using it in any products, including other operating system.
The new platform implies the following aspects: devices based on it should support existing Garnet OS applications and ensure multitasking and the ability to handle simultaneous voice and data.
The official name of the platform hasn’t been disclosed yet. Palm, the current owner of the Palm brand, might call it Palm OS. Linux-based products might come up by the end of this year or later. In addition, Ed Colligan said that Palm would not license the new OS to outside companies.

Dell is said to stop selling Axim x51 handheld. According to the company’s spokeswoman Anne Camden, the series is no longer being offered and Dell has no plans for a follow-on product at this time. However Camden added that their will still sell handheld devices, such as GPS-navigators and smartphones. Well, it seems that Dell is to work on these very directions instead of former PDA.
Dell Axim x51 debuted late in 2005. Since then the company hasn’t offered a new handheld PC. Apparently Dell won’t make Windows Mobile PDA any longer. The company is rumored to be currently developing a new device, which might be a smartphone or a communicator or something else.
