LG.Philips introduces a super slim display for ultra slim phones    [ 29-09-2006 16:01 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

LG.Philips LCD has announced its new development – a slim TFT LCD module for ultra slim mobile phones. The display features a 2” diagonal, QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution, 1.3 mm thickness (the developers says this is the record).

This is about 32% less than in the current models (1.9-2.9 mm thick). According to LG.Philips, the module is even slimmer than OLED LCD (1.5-1.8 mm).

This display gives an opportunity to manufacturers to overcome the 6.9 mm slimness barrier for candy bar shaped phones and 10 mm for sliders. The company expects to show the display at SID Mobile Displays 2006 starting on October 3.
