Many analysts consider the release of new CPUs for all segments by Intel the most important event of the year, as the new models feature both high productivity and balanced heat package. This makes them an ideal solution for compact devices, such as notebooks, extending offline work.

Intel plans to start offering an entry-level Core 2 Duo processor, the T5200. It should be an inexpensive alternative to previous generation processors and available at a price much lower than the current Core 2 Duo T5500 and T5600, which are priced at $209 and 241, respectively. The new processor is to compete with entry-level AMD Mobile Turion 64 X2 CPUs.
