Potential buyers of mobile PC have different demands, some care about compact size, some look for high productivity. Others aren’t satisfied with dimensions and low functionality of the PDA. In this case sub-notebooks are to help.

Fujitsu has such a product called the Lifebook P1610, it has small size and a rotating display. At the same time the model features high productivity: ULV-processor Pentium M U1400 1.2 ÏÐÿá 512 MB RAM and 80 GB 1.8” HDD.

As for the functionality, it is also high: USB 2.0 ports, an SD-card-reader, a fingerprints scanner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a PC card slot. Besides there are a UMTS module and an antenna for better signal. In addition the sub-notebook is equipped with a 8.9” WXGA rotating touchscreen LCD. On a single charge the device can work for 4.5 hours. The price tag is just $2000.

The European unit of Sony has announced the release of a USB-flash drive MICRO VAULT Midi. The device has a sliding USB connector, so you shouldn’t worry about an ever vanishing protective cover.

The MICRO VAILT Midi comes with Virtual Expander software onboard. It automatically archives info during write/read, so the drive can store trice as much info against the initial size.

The MICRO VAULT Midi capacious of 8 GB will be available in November. The series consists of flash drives with 512 MB, 1 GB, 2GB and 4 GB onboard.

At KES 2006 show Samsung Electronics has introduced another Ultra Edition model – the SCH-B630 slim mobile phone. This is the version for the Korean market. It is packed in a slider form, 12.9 mm thick. The phone is equipped with an S-DMB receiver.

There are also a 2.12” QVGA (240x320 pixels) LCD, a 3-megapixel camera, an MP3-player, an expansion slot, Bluetooth interface and e-dictionary. Dimensions are 103.5x51x12.9 mm.

I’d note that Samsung is actively developing the Ultra Edition line on the Korean market, for example, there are several models supporting mobile TV, the analog of the slim Samsung X820 with the DMB module, 8.4 mm thick.
