Samsung introduces another “slimmest” display for mobile devices    [ 21-11-2006 17:35 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The companies producing LCDs for mobile devices are on race making their products ever slimmer to encourage the release of more compact devices. Today the South Korean company Samsung Electronics reported the release of the slimmest display, which is by 0.07 mm thinner than the previous record by other manufacturer. The new Samsung product is 0.82 mm thick like an ordinary credit card. Besides the display features “i-Lens” brand technology meant to ensure higher protection of the display (from scratches, vibration, shock and so on).

Currently the “slimmest” LCD is available with 2.1” and 2.2” diagonals – 240x320 pixels resolution, 500:1 contrast ratio. The mass production of slim displays is scheduled for the second half of 2007.

E-Ten to release a communicator with a VGA-display, rumors    [ 21-11-2006 13:42 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova   Source: MoDaCo     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Yesterday E-Ten hold an event in London introducing its latest communicators X500 and M700.

E-Ten plans to release several 3G models in the beginning of 2007. They will feature GPS-functionality. There expected to appear the model with a 2.8” VGA screen.

I’d remind you that the communicators with a VGA screen are currently rarely met. One of them available outside Japan is HTC Universal, it looks like a small notebook transformer, so it can hardly be treated as a mass product.
