O2 released XDA IQ smartphone

The British operator O2 has announced the release of its XDA IQ smartphone and the launch of Microsoft Direct Push technology. XDA IQ is based on HTC Tornado platform and made in the classical form with the digital keyboard.
This is the first device by O2 supporting Microsoft Direct Push email solution. The users of O2 Xda Exec and O2 Xda Mini S can carry out a software upgrade at O2 Xda site.
In addition to cell standards XDA IQ supports Wi-Fi. It’s quite compact and weighs 110 g. The device is equipped with a 2.2” QVGA (320x240 pixels) 65K color LCD, a 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture function and Bluetooth.

Nokia 6131 camera phone now shipping

Today Nokia has announced the shipments of Nokia 6131 mobile phone, which was introduced at 3GSM Congress in February. I’d remind you it’s the first Nokia’s model of this class equipped with a 16M color LCD.

Today Nokia and ATI Technologies have announced a long-term strategic relationship to bring enhanced mobile multimedia opportunities to Nokia devices, i.e. music playback, 3D games, mobile TV, video and so on.
The companies are working to drive the complexity out of multimedia development by promoting open standards and providing integrated hardware, software and tools. Particularly, ATI aims to provide tools and software development kit (SDK) for developers in the fall of 2006. SanDisk and Philips to make safer mobile wireless payment

SanDisk and Philips have unveiled their current developments to integrate SmartMX chips to TrustedFlash memory cards. So it will be possible to create protected applications for mobile phones with the support of NFC technology (Near Field Communication). NFC represents a simple in use wireless technology effective within short distances, it allows using mobile devices to carry out wireless payment and other data exchange by putting the device close to the reader. And SmartMX technology ensures a protected contact.
According to the company, SanDisk TrustedFlash cards with SmartMX are fast and profitable way for mobile phone makers, operators and banks to implement protected wireless payment applications to mobile phones. The users could also buy a TrustedFlash card to store different content.
If your phone doesn’t support NFC, which is still common thing, SanDisk together with Wireless Dynamics offers NFC SDiD adapters in SD and miniSD form-factors.
Currently TrustedFlash cards with SmartMX are available on an OEM-basis in microSD format. SanDisk expects the mass commercial release will take place in 2007.

Samsung SGH-E900 released

Samsung has announced the release of its stylish slider SGH-E900 in Europe. The model was introduced at the CeBIT 2006 show in March.
The phone supports tri-band GSM networking and EDGE data transfer standard. It is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with flash and video capture opportunity. Its 2” LCD can display up to 262K colors. Besides there is an MP3-player and an expansion slot for microSD (TransFlash) cards. The E900 supports Bluetooth and USB interfaces.
Samsung SGH-E900 should be commercially available in Europe, Russia and the CIS countries in May.
