Motorola acquires R&D center of BenQ Mobile    [ 03-05-2006 09:44 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Yesterday Motorola and BenQ Mobile reported that Motorola acquired R&D center and the developers’ team of BenQ Mobile in Olborg (Denmark).

Under this agreement, Motorola gets equipment, center facilities and 250 employees, most of them engineers. The acquisition in Olborg will be integrated into Motorola’s mobile business and become the development center of the company. The terms of the deal aren’t disclosed. The acquisition process should be completed early in June.

By selling its R&D center to Motorola, BenQ Mobile is implementing its restructuring strategy. In March BenQ Mobile announced its decision to centralize German developments in Munich and Kamp-Lintfort (Northern Rhine-Westphalia) and also to transfer the employees of the R&D center in Ulm to Munich. Besides the company decided to shorten the fragmented product line and focus on the middle segment.

LG announced the release of its chocolate in Europe    [ 03-05-2006 09:40 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

As it was expected LG Electronics has announced the European release of a GSM version of the popular slim slider LG Chocolate. It is being sold in Korea since last November, in March the company announced its plans to release the model in Europe. Many might have seen a mysterious preliminary promo of the new phone.

Given that the press-release doesn’t state any specs, the main technical specs coincide with the original. I’d remind you that the model is focused in music functionality and thus has large internal memory size and a camera.

Here you see some live photos of the phone:
