StreetPilot 2820: a navigator for cars and motorcycles supporting Bluetooth and MP3    [ 02-05-2006 18:32 ]

Garmin International has announced its new premium navigator for cars and motorcycles – the StreetPilot 2820. This model is based on a successful StreetPilot 2700 series, it got the support of Bluetooth, including the opportunity to make hands-free calls in pair with a Bluetooth-phone. In this mode the users can dial numbers from the phone address book or call history and also make calls using database stored in the navigator.

The StreetPilot 2820 can be used as the MP3-player. Besides it is waterproof and complies with IEC 529 IPX7 standard, i.e. it can work at a 1 meter’s depth during 30 minutes. There is an optional function, which can trace traffic situation with the help of FM RDS-TMC (Traffic Message Channel) or XM NavTraffic (in the US only). With the latter you can use some other services, including weather forecast and share quotations.

The StreetPilot 2820 is expected to be available in June. The recommended price makes up $1099. The device will be supplied with the maps of Europe or the US.

The South Korean company Samsung has said that the Italian operators Telecom Italy, Vodafone Italy and 3 (H3G) will sell its new DVB-H phone SGH-P920, which differs from the SGH-P910 in the support of 3G networks (UMTS).

In addition to the UMTS model the Italian operators will sell the earlier announced SGH-P910 – a tri-band GSM phone with the support of DVB-H TV programs.

Samsung Electronics has announced the release of a slim mobile phone SGH-D520. It is meant for tri-band GSM networks and supports GPRS data transfer standard. The phone is made in the slider form, equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3-player and 80 MB of memory onboard.

Its LCD displays up to 262K colors. There is the support of stereo sound via Bluetooth interface. PC connection runs via USB interface. Measuring 101x46x15.9 mm the phone is quite light – 93 g. It will appear in shops of Europe and South East Asia during May.

In Korea LG Electronics has released its new mobile phone LG-LF1200. It is packed in a slider form, its design has something in common with the successful slim model “Chocolate Phone”. There is Bluetooth interface. It’s possible to play Bluetooth games, the effective radius reaches 30 meters. The device is just 15.9 mm thick.

It is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3-player, an expansion slot for microSD (TransFlash) cards. Besides it supports mobile printing and multi-task mode. The recommended price for LG-LF1200 makes up 400 thousand Won, i.e. some $400.
