Sony Ericsson has announced a quad-band card GC86 EDGE PC Card, a successor of GC85 PC Card. The GC86 has an external antenna and offers a good combination of productivity, design and the price for the users of non-expensive notebooks. The card will be available in 3Q 2006.

Panasonic has announced the sales date of new high-speed SD cards capacious of 512 MB, 1 GB and GB, July 15, 2006. The new cards comply with Class 2 according to the new speed classification of SD cards.

Class 2 stands for productivity of storage cards, when the data won’t be lost during continuous write process at the speed of 2 Mbps or higher. New Panasonic cards fully comply with this classification and feature Mbps speed.

In addition to the new cards Panasonic has also announced the start of sales of 4GB SDHC cards from July 25. The card has the index RP-SDR04GJ1K, it also complies with Class 2 (speed classification).

The price isn’t yet disclosed.

Pepper Computer has announced a new version of Pepper Pad 3, a compact Tablet PC for the Internet. Like its forerunners it is equipped with a split QWERTY-keyboard, so it’s comfortable to enter texts with thumbs.

According to the company, Pepper Pad 3 is 3 times faster working with Web than the current Tablet PC version, besides it features better video productivity, longer battery life, faster Wi-Fi and USB connections and an integrated camera.

Pepper 3.0 software allows browsing through Web pages, working with e-mail and IM, downloading video (including stream video), music and pictures. Unlike small PDA and smartphones Pepper Pad is more convenient to work with the Internet. The device is based on AMD Geode LX 800@0.9w processor for compact devices (the previous version was powered by Intel XScale PXA270). The operating system is Linux Kernel 2.6.

  • AMD LX800 processor
  • Memory - 256 MB SDRAM and 256 Kb LPC ROM

Samsung Electronics has introduced another handset for the domestic market – a music slider SCH-V940. It is designed for CDMA2000 networks and supports high speed data transfer standard EV-DO, at the same time it is slim and has quite tiny dimensions – 93.2x45.5x16mm. The V940 is peculiar for 1GB of memory onboard.

The phone is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture opportunity, a TFT QVGA (240x320 pixels) LCD, an MP3-player and Bluetooth and USB 2.0 interfaces.

The new phone is expected to be released from the Korean operator SK Telecom. The recommended price makes up 600 thousand Won, i.e. $630.
