The success of compact iPod players attracted attention of many companies on many markets. Companies adopt successful construction solutions from the leader, for example, the idea of the navi-pad is implemented in many models.

A new music slider Asus J206 is equipped with the familiar round navi-pad, which greatly simplifies the operation of the player. The phone is packed in a slider form, its technical specs aren’t yet unveiled – the new player is said to support the majority of multimedia files, can work up to 12 hours in the playback mode (the communication part is on), and have 60 MB of internal memory extended with microSD cards.

Another record by Samsung: a small VGA LCD for cellphones    [ 07-06-2006 16:04 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Samsung Electronics has broken another record. It has developed a 1.98” LCD, the fact isn’t that interesting, but the resolution of this LCD is VGA (480x640 pixels). The company says this is unprecedented in the industry. The display is based on the amorphous silicon. (a-Si).

Cellphones equipped with such LCD can display application windows and documents in quality close to that in PC and notebooks, only the picture is much smaller. It’s hard to say whether it will be convenient: one should have keen sight to make out details.

I’d note that the LCD supports up to 16M colors. Currently it is exhibited at the SID show (Society for Information Display International Conference) in San Francisco.
