Sanyo has introduced one more product – a digital video/photo camera Xacti HD1A. It is successor of the popular Xacti HD1 released in January 2006. The new camera differs in the support of SDHC cards, optional widescreen photo shooting mode 16:9 and video editing opportunities without PC.
According to the company, Xacti HD1A is the tiniest and lightest digital HD-media camera. It is equipped with a 5.1-megapixel CCD-sensor and can shoot video at 720p, 30 fps in MPEF4, and 60 fps with VGA resolution. The device also supports batch shooting – series up to 10 frames at 5 fps.

Sanyo has introduced its new compact camera – Xacti CA6. It is water-proof – however you can’t dive with it, but snap photos at beach being not afraid of water splashes. The device can shoot both photo and video. It is equipped with a 6-megapixel CCD-sensor, 5x optical zoom and a 2” LCD.

Net income of Samsung dropped by 11%

Samsung Electronics has reported its 2Q financial results, which turned to be not that good. Net income dropped by 11% against the same period last year – to 1.51 trillion Won ($1.59 billion). Sales grew slightly from 13.6 trillion Won in 2005 to 14.1 trillion Won ($15.1 billion), and operating profit decreased to 1.4 trillion Won ($1.49 billion) compared to 1.6 trillion Won ($1.7 billion) last year.
Weak performance resulted from forced price decline for Samsung mobile phones. Sales income from fell to 4.04 trillion Won ($4.23 billion), a year-on-year decline of 4% and 8% compared to 1Q 2006. However Samsung has rosy outlook for the future staking on ultra slim handsets released in the end of the quarter. The company didn’t unveil the sales volume in units, probably it will do so later.
