TD-SCDMA phone Samsung SGH-T578 passed tests in China    [ 10-07-2006 17:28 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Today the South Korean company Samsung Electronics said its SGH-T578 phone for 3G TD-SCDMA networks in China passed initial tests held by the Ministry of Information Industry of China.

The phone can work not only in national 3G networks, but also in popular GSM networks. I’d remind you that the Chinese Government decided to create its own 3G standard, which is called TD-SCDMA, to avoid extra royalty and thus lower cost of the equipment for operators, mobile phones and services.

LG KG99: another Chocolate candy bar    [ 10-07-2006 09:25 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova   Source: iDNES     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

LG has developed another mobile phone in the Chocolate style – the KG99. Unlike the original Chocolate-slider it is made in a candy bar form factor. Like other Chocolate models it is slim – 9.9 mm.

Taking into account the specs we have a more advanced multimedia model compared to the recent LG KG320. There is a striking difference in design – the LCD (220x176x262K) is landscape-oriented and the keyboard buttons stand 4 in a row.

The device is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with auto focus, an MP3-player, an FM-tuner, an expansion slot for microSD cards and Bluetooth interface. Measuring 95x52x9.9 mm it weighs 73 g. The phone is meant for GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz)/GPRS networks. The release is expected this fall.
