Gigabyte released a GPS-handset g-YoYo    [ 06-07-2006 11:06 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Gigabyte Communications, a subsidiary of Gigabyte Technology, has announced the release of its new mobile phone g-YoYo. I’d remind you it was introduced at CeBIT 2006 in March.

The g-YoYo is peculiar for the rich set of GPS-functions. It comes with e-maps (apparently maps of Taiwan) containing 14 thousand objects. For example, it has the function of arrival alarm, so you won’t miss marked objects, besides there are voice instructions and SOS function, which sends an alarm message after the special button is pressed.

The specs of g-YoYo:

  • GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz), GPRS Class 10
  • 2” TFT LCD 262K colors
  • 2.1-megapixel camera with video capture opportunity
  • 64-tones polyphony
  • MP3-player
  • Electronic dictionary (English-Chinese and Chinese-English)
  • Slot for miniSD cards
  • Li-Ion battery 1050 mAh
  • Talk time – up to 5 hours
  • Standby time – up to 300 hours
  • Dimensions – 99.7x48.5x19.8 mm
  • Weight - 105 g

The recommended price for the Taiwanese market is 10900 new Taiwanese dollars, i.e. some $340.

Author: Klimov Oleg     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

At the website of Archos, a popular maker of compact multimedia devices, you can watch a video clip devoted to the new device, which will soon be unveiled.

The model under the index 504 will have a traditional 4.3” LCD, a 30 GB HDD, Wi-Fi, GPS and an integrated 3.5G modem (it might support HSDPA technology) to download digital content to the player. Unfortunately, there are no more details so far.
